Cannot follow instructions
Instructions tell you to just “Power On”. However, I had to look at YouTube videos to find out I needed to install a newer device operating code from their app installed on my PC before I could power on and run the device. I assumed to battery was bad on the device.
Otherwise, the device works well.

Would be nice if it showed the amount of tokens too.

Great hardware wallet
The only downside is that there is a known issue where some batteries won’t charge and you’ll get the “e7” message. The trick is to power the device and off a ton of times. The documentation says like 8 times. It was two weeks later worth of reboots using multiple times a day for it to start working.
Support by email never contacted me in this time, which is why it’s a four. Would have been lower if it didn’t start charging.

Buy from Manufacturer avoid potential spyware
You never know if spyware is already installed. I should have bought direct from the manufacturer. They wouldn’t take it back so I threw it away. Too risky in my opinion.

Rough start but great product.
So this is my first cold storage type device. After all of the chaos in the crypto world recently, economy and banking in a downward trend, I wanted to get my crypto off of exchanges. The overall function/interface of the device is super simple, it’s small footprint so easy to store anywhere, crypto types are added as “apps” to the ledger via the ledger live app, and accounts are added after everything is set up so you can transfer your crypto. YouTube has step by step guides on how to transfer your crypto off of various exchanges with ease. I had no idea what I was doing, but was able to transfer all my crypto without issue in about a half hour. Now the bad. From the start I had the dreaded battery problem. I followed ledgers step by step guide to the smallest detail and still had issues. After talking to their help team, I got the errors bypassed, synced up my ledger via desktop PC app, pushed the firmware update, and resolved the issue. It finally took a full charge and is now ready to go. Take your time, expect a slow/rough start, follow the procedures and pack your patience. It’s a great system once the firmware is updated and the battery is charged.

At first it wouldn’t pair with my phone and this was after I wrote the 24 word phrase down. Then I read in reviews how many people have trouble pairing it and that no one should buy this! Nonsense. I’m so glad I gave it another chance!! Those who are have trouble pairing listen up!
FIRST set this up by connecting Nano Ledger device to your computer with the given cord and download Ledger Live. At that point you can follow the screen on computer or follow tiny screen on ledger. You will first be asked to set up a digit code and then to set up a 24 word pattern “recovery phrase” EXTREMELY important process. When you are done I believe the Nano screen tells you you are all set! If you look at the computer it will still ask you to set up the same things (even though you just did it on the little Nano). I backed out of that on the computer and went to home page and select a different option then set-up (at this point your already set up).
When you are done doing all of this your little device all of a sudden has more options to pair your phone. Before this set up I didn’t see what I now see in the control screen in the Nano Itself. Pairing was much more easier once i connected and downloaded to the computer. I don’t know why that is but this time I had no issues. Hope this helps.

Finally got around to setting it up, never used and “Error Battery cannot charge” – Unit is
Finally got around to getting this set up, been a tough year! This made it a little tougher, cracked open the box, was excited to set this up. Even found a great video on how to and all the ins and outs and another video on how not to link it to your online account. Finally did enough research and went to charge and this was the error… obviously this is a known bug because they would not say if you encounter this issue call support. I will contact their support but wanted all of my fellow Amazonians to be aware. Depending on the support experience, may come back and add more. For now, to expensive to be DOA.
Amended Review – Tech support reached out to me. After keeping it tethered, updating software the unit is working and have set it up. The Ledger support team was very helpful and checked in on me via Amazon messaging and I appreciate that. I would recommend this product.

After over 1 year of regular use my Ledger Nano X is still going strong. No battery or other major issues to report!
–Original review below
Let me start by saying I was really worried about having the battery issues that so many of these Ledger Nano X’s seem to have had over the past several months going by online posts and reviews here and other places… Upon receiving this one I immediately connected it to a standalone charger to see how it would respond and to make sure it would fully charge before connecting it to a computer to actually begin using. This worked without issue and I didn’t have any errors or warnings and the device came with the battery at around a 34% charge so I’m guessing this has to be a pretty fresh from the factory specimen.
So far, about 4 days later (11/26-11/30/2021) I haven’t had any issues with the battery or other functionality.
As far as the usability goes, it seems to be working exactly as it should. I’m using it with only a couple of cryptos now that aren’t directly supported in the Ledger app suite but by external wallets. The 4 star review comes from me comparing this device to the Trezor Model T which I also have and bought before this device. Having the top spec offerings from both companies, I can say that I like the full color touch screen of the Trezor Model T much more. The physical interface and screen of the Ledger is not nearly as easy to use.
Be aware that you’ll have to do a LOT of clicking with the two buttons the Ledger has to get anything done as far as navigating the menus on the tiny monochrome screen and approving various prompts, etc. For security reasons, the screen will by default lock after 10 minutes of inactivity, I believe it is, so you’ll be prompted to unlock it pretty regularly if you aren’t constantly interacting with the Ledger buttons. You can adjust this time out to be None, 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes.. Of course, setting it to “none” wouldn’t be advisable for security reasons.
As far as the other features like Bluetooth for connectivity to mobile devices, I didn’t want that feature at all and would rather be able to buy a version that has the same or better interface without and more storage space for additional crypto apps for a cheaper price. I disabled the Bluetooth and haven’t tested it so far. Their Ledger Live app seems alright and I think it’s got a better layout than the Trezor Suite as of now. Since the crypto I want to use the Ledger with isn’t supported directly in Ledger Live, I haven’t been able to test out many of the features that it has that are available to crypto assets that are natively supported so I can’t speak to that yet.
To me it seems like Ledger should have another model without a battery and Bluetooth, with more storage so there’s areas of failure. I also think it would be nice if they had a larger, touchscreen like the Trezor Model T so it would be much easier to interact with the device.
As far as build quality goes, it’s designed like the old school USB flash drives with the swivel port protector. The body of the Ledger is plastic and the swivel cover is some sort of metal. The side with the screen is glossy and one of the two buttons is plastic and the other is metal and the USB C port is on the left side of the device when you’re interacting with it which makes it a little more awkward when having to press the buttons.
Overall, it’s functioning as it should and I’m happy it supports the crypto assets that I intended to use it it. I do wish I could have used the Trezor Model T instead since it has an easier interface but as it is now, Ledger HW wallets have a wider embracing by the crypto community and is supported by more crypto assets.
FYI – we all know that eventually all batteries in devices like this fail and there is no way to replace the battery in this device so keep that in mind!
I will update the review if I have battery or other issues down the road

Wish I bought sooner
I was intimidated at first did not know if this was going to be easy to use or complicated. It was very easy to use very easy to set up. I really wish I would have got this sooner. And I am happy to have the extra added protection that it provides.

Seems to be a good offline wallet

Glad I can store my crypto safely with the Ledger Nano X. Works as described. Comes charged out of the box and has a sleek look. This was recommended by peers and I would definitely recommend it to my peers in the crypto space who want to keep their assets safe.
