The Nano S Plus has more storage 1.28 MB compared to the Nano S 138 KB. Which should be enough storage for all the tokens you want to hold

Great cold wallet device to safely store your crypto, I’ve purchased 2 of these at Best Buy so far. I did have to go to 2 different locations to get them (as both stores only had one on hand). Makes me think I’m slightly ahead of the curve. Regardless, very easy to use and easy to set up.

I have been dabbling in Crypto since 2019 throwing money in here and there. It’s fun, it’s new and who knows…in 20 years could be worth a fortune!!
I set up my initial account to buy crypto through a popular coin purchasing app and throw some cash in regularly. It has been fun to watch it grow. Recently I read a story about the app I buy my crypto on and that if it were to go out of business, the funds (including mine) could be forfeited! Not sure it’s possible that could even happen but how would I get my crypto into another storage place? If the app stopped working…what would I do? And there in lies the reason I wanted to get a hardware wallet!
I was a little intimated by getting a hardware wallet. All the digital wallets and ones tied to an app are easier initially to set up. but again…they go bye bye and then what? The apps control the keys. I wanted to control the keys!
I grabbed the Ledger Nano S Plus and began a new and more secure phase of crypto ownership. Crypto is here to stay and you either get on the band wagon or miss out of the opportunity and fun. I love that it bypasses all the gatekeepers (banks and government) and is it’s own thing. That is freedom.
I opened up the Ledger Nano S Plus box and it is a well built usb drive looking device with a little LED and two buttons. so far so good. Then I got to the instruction. 24 word erase that if you lose it…well kiss your crypto goodby. The quick start up guide advised to set aside 30 minutes to set it all up. Gulp. I decided to wait till the next morning as I was two adult beverages into the evening and wanted a clear head.
I was excited to set it up. If your into Crypto you are probably into tech so even though it is a little more complicated than just plugging in a usb drive it is fun to learn and push your comfort zone and wade into new tech. I plugged it in and downloaded “Ledger Live”. Ledger live is the main interface and it is really sleek. It is feels like all the other coin exchange apps but looks and is functionally a lot better. When it syncs with the Nano S is is literally like pulling the crypto from the cloud based web and putting it into this little drive. I’m getting a head of myself…
So I created my pin and recorded my 24 word recover phrase and was ready to put some coin on the Nano S. NOTE: Ledger says it a bunch but it bears repeating…take you time and write down the 24 words very carefully…Don’t rush…double check… take a pic store the little note card they provide somewhere safe!!!!
I hopped onto youtube and typed in how to transfer bitcoin from my coin exchange app to my Nano S Plus and after 5 minutes I had a 100 bucks of bitcoin transferred to my Nano S as a test run. Super easy after set up and short youtube video. I stared at the Nano S Plus knowing that the keys to my Coins were in my hands and not an app somewhere. Peace of mind.
It also will hold NFT’s. I have not waded into that arena yet. But it’s on my list of to do’s and the Nano S Plus will facilitate that nicely. The Nano S Plus has every coin i could think of that I would want! Tons!
Overall, as a relative newbie, I am super happy with the Ledger Nano S. It has all the coins I trade and then some. The “Live Ledger app” is super cool and functional and my coins are safe.

Summary: A great tool for anyone who wants full control of their crypto in an easy to manage digital wallet. This device will make your crypto far more secure from cyber attacks.
Pros:
Easy to carry
Small size
Good desktop / mobile apps
Massive amount of supported coins
Cons:
Only works when connected via USB
If lost, you’re out of luck
Two buttons to do everything
Unboxing / build quality:
Opening the device will provide you with the ledger, a dongle, a USB-A to USB-C cable, documentation, booklets to remember your security words. I was surprised that the device looks quite premium with a modern industrial design. It does feel a little more on the cheap side though as the majority of the device is plastic and mine actually squeaks a little bit when I fold it shut. The metal cover looks nice with a brushed metal design.
Setup:
Setup is a little different than most devices as you are not “pairing” it with anything. You can use a mobile app or desktop (PC or Mac) to set it up. I decided to set it up with a PC to have access to the keyboard if needed. While setting up, you will setup a 4-8 digit pin. The more digits the better but beware that you only have two buttons so it might take you some time to enter a long PIN. You will also write down your security words in one of the provided booklets… DO NOT LOSE THIS as this is your ability to recover your account if you ever lose your PIN. If you lose this, your crypto is gone forever should you forget your PIN or break your device.
After initial setup, you will load crypto “apps” into the device. To test it out, I started with Bitcoin and Ethereum. Installation is simple, “push” the app over to it from the desktop or phone, then acknowledge it on the device and you are gtg with a secure address you can send your crypto to on the device. As far as I can tell you are supposed to send/receive while the ledger is connected to your main device as it provides you with the encryption needed to withdraw and to verify the correct address to receive money. This can be a slow process but it is more secure.
Coin support:
It supports so many coins. That vast majority were supported when I tried to set it up with the only two I have that did not have native support being Monero and Cardano. There is support within the desktop app but you need to use another program to tie it to the ledger as it is not natively supported to be managed via the Ledger Live app. Their website says Cardano is coming down the road but there is no date set. If you set it up with the 3rd party Cardano/Monero apps it works similarly to the aforementioned processes with the native supported coins. You can also buy coins directly from some 3rd parties such as Coinify through the Ledger Live app.
Overall:
I like this device… it is a bit unwieldy and cumbersome to use but it consolidates your crypto into one place. This is better in my opinion as the popular websites which maintain your crypto could tank and you would end up losing your holdings. This is a non-issue with the ledger life.
My only complaints that I took away stars for are the cheapish build quality and the two buttons. It really needs a better interface than two buttons. Last, there should be some ability to turn it on without being connected to your phone or laptop.

The Ledger Nano S Plus is a highly secure and user-friendly hardware wallet for cryptocurrencies. It features an improved design with a larger display for easy navigation. The device incorporates advanced security measures, including a certified secure element chip and secure boot process. It supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies and integrates seamlessly with Ledger Live software for account management and transactions. Although its storage capacity for apps is limited, the Nano S Plus is an excellent choice for individuals looking to protect their digital assets with peace of mind.

Overall
For a long time, I was on the fence about moving off to a hardware wallet. But over the last several years I’ve been adopting better credential hygiene that has made the change absolutely simple. Gone are the days I’ll be using a big name broker to store my crypto anymore. In the box, Ledger includes generic instructions pointing you to the Ledger website, a booklet holding 3 sheets for storing your seed on, more instructions with the same information as the first sheet but translated to about 10 different languages, a care guide, stickers, a keychain strap, a short USB cable, and the Nano S Plus. If I’m being honest, the fob itself feels rather thin. Plugging it into the included USB to connect it to the Ledger Live app was also unpleasant as it wouldn’t seat. I had to really push on them to get them to connect and power up. The first time I disconnected them was about the same as well, which caused me to drop the Nano.
Setup
Setting up was simpler than I thought. Although I will add that the language used on the Ledger site didn’t make it clear that I needed to download the Ledger app to my computer. It made it seem like installing the smartphone app was all you needed with the Nano S.
After grabbing the Ledger app you’re asked to plug in the Nano. Then you’ll go through a series of prompts to setup a pin for the Nano using the 2 buttons on the edge of the body followed by recording the seed phrase, a 24 word recovery key. Once complete you’ll be ready to install your first dApp and begin receiving your crypto from other addresses. With the added companion app for your smartwatch you can have all your assets at a flip of the wrist.
Conclusion
Despite the stiff plugs, the pros for the Nano outweigh any negatives. It offers superb security and a great convenience. Just be sure to move your seed to something more sturdy or make multiple copies and safeguard them. Take back control over your assets and reclaim your keys with the Nano

The Ledger Nano S has been widely regarded as one of the most popular hardware wallets for securely storing cryptocurrencies. However, recent revelations regarding a potential backdoor for Ledger Recovery have raised significant privacy concerns. This critical review aims to shed light on these concerns and evaluate the impact they have on the overall security and trustworthiness of the Ledger Nano S.
The primary issue revolves around the presence of a backdoor that enables Ledger Recovery, a feature intended to restore access to funds in case of device loss or damage. While this may sound like a convenient option, it inadvertently compromises the fundamental principle of privacy that users expect from a hardware wallet.
The presence of a backdoor implies that there is a possibility for unauthorized access to the device. This raises questions about the level of control Ledger holds over the private keys stored on the device. Users rightly expect complete ownership and control over their funds, but the existence of a backdoor introduces the potential for external interference or surveillance, undermining the very essence of decentralization.
The inclusion of a backdoor raises concerns about the overall trustworthiness of Ledger as a company. Users rely on hardware wallets to safeguard their cryptocurrencies from hacking attempts and malicious actors. By introducing a potential vulnerability, Ledger has created doubt in the minds of users regarding the integrity of their product.
Furthermore, the security of a hardware wallet lies in its ability to protect private keys. With the backdoor, it becomes harder to determine if the private keys stored on the Ledger Nano S are truly secure. Users have the right to demand transparency and assurance that their private keys remain confidential and inaccessible to anyone other than themselves.
While Ledger Recovery may provide a convenient solution for recovering lost funds, it comes at the expense of compromising privacy. Users who prioritize privacy and security might find it difficult to justify the inclusion of such a feature if it potentially exposes their assets to external threats.
Moreover, the presence of a backdoor adds complexity to the user experience. The need to navigate and manage recovery processes can be confusing for less technically inclined individuals. This could inadvertently lead to mistakes or unintentional exposure of private keys, defeating the purpose of using a hardware wallet in the first place.
The Ledger Nano S, once regarded as a top-tier hardware wallet, has faced criticism due to the privacy concerns raised by the inclusion of a backdoor for Ledger Recovery. This compromise in privacy, coupled with the potential implications for trust, security, and user experience, calls into question the overall reliability and integrity of the device. Users should carefully evaluate their priorities and consider alternative hardware wallet options that prioritize privacy and ensure complete control over their funds.

Portability, and carrying your money in a new way
It’s a sign of the times when you’re carrying money you can’t see on basically what looks like a flash drive, and not money you can touch and put into a physical wallet.
The new Nano S Plus Crypto Wallet is about the size of a small thumb drive, protected by a nice brushed aluminum sleeve that swivels open to display the small black and white digital LCD screen. It has two buttons on the side above the screen that allows you to select and go through all of the prompts and controls.
It powers up by USB Type C plug which is a short one is included. Nicely made though and braided. It also comes with an attachable key ring with a small sort of wrist strap although it’s not big enough to go around my hand or wrist. It also comes with a small folder that includes three secret recovery sheets for you to write your twenty-four code words in order down.
Those code words are very important because they are thee only way to recover your digital assets if you lose or damage the Nano or in the case that you forget your pin. So I’d definitely put them in a safe and protected place.
So setting up everything isn’t too bad, the screen itself is tiny, but once you download the app for the computer to complete everything once setting and confirming all of your 24 security words on the Nano, working with the app is much easier.
You can choose which apps to download and use. You can read the market and see how things are going as well as keep tabs on your own portfolio. You can send and receive crypto currencies as well and buy and sell.
It’s not limited to just US currency or language as well as what region you’re in, once going into the settings on the Ledger Live app it allows you to really personalize things to fit your personal needs.
One thing is I use Coinbase and Robinhood for all of my cryptocurrency needs and neither of these were an option as far as apps to use with the Nano or LedgerLive.
Over all it’s a pretty cool concept but for me it’s a little too small and hard to read personally. I’d recommend to others interested in the concept of what this does.

Must have if you serious about crypto
Cryptocurrencies are entering our life rapidly and proper security is essential for a crypto success. Web sites get broken into, computers crash and get infected, phones get lost. How would you make sure your crypto stash is safe? This little device is meant to help with that. It’s not like a flash drive to store your private key, it’s really a small Hardware Security Module that generates your private key once and never lets it get out of the device itself, with the exception of 24 words security phrase that can be used to restore your access. This device will digitally sign your transactions (that your authorize by pressing both buttons on the device at the same time) but would never expose your key to the outside world so it can’t be stolen.
What if you loose the device? First of all – it’s protected by 4 to 8 digit PIN code that you setup as a first step and 3 incorrect attempts would wipe out the entire device (so don’t give it to young kids unless you want to test your recovery procedures). However if it really gets lost or wiped out – you have to be sure that you stored that 24 word seed phrase securely (in a safe, deposit box, or other safe place). Don’t store it electronically on your computer as if anyone gets this 24 word phrase – they essentially have a full control of your wallet.
Device is equipped with 1.29Mb of on-board memory that allows you to pick multiple crypto wallets to safely store (1 wallet takes from 50Kb to about a 100Kb worth of storage), there is no onboard battery (so it won’t go bad or overheat in the sun), which means USB-C connection to a computer is required to operate your secure wallet.
Would I recommend going thru a hustle of setting up a hardware wallet? I would say yes if you are serious about crypto and storing any significant amount in crypto assets (tokens, coins, NFTs). Just make sure to store that 24 word phrase real good. It does make transfers a little less convenient (receiving crypto is not affected) – but it makes it almost impossible to steal crypto from you.

Safety of Crypto Asset = Peace of mind
For quite some time, I have been thinking and researching about crypto wallets. As a current coinbase user, I store my coins on the exchange and use their online (free) wallet. As most of you might already know, there are two type of practical wallets (paper wallet is not at all practical IMO): Hardware and Online. The online ones provide you ease of use but the security is only as strong as the security of the platform or skills of hackers. The hardware wallets are more secure ones and as your private key is not online, they are hacker proof. The only danger to them is YOU 🙂 As I don’t do crypto transactions on a day-to-day basis, I finally decided to trade security over ease of use. That led me to Nano S Plus.
Ledger is the go to product when it comes to hardware wallets and I have been mostly satisfied with S Plus. Here are my impressions:
Pros:
– Simple & Minimalistic design
– Easy setup (It takes a while – ~30 mins – to set it up but the instructions are clear and easy to follow)
– Availability of a large selection of Crypto coins (5500+)
– Well designed desktop app (Ledger Live)
– Ability to store up to 100 apps
– Easy to read screen and simple navigation via two buttons on the top
– Ability to transact using Leger Live app
– USB-C connectivity and Android Support
– CC EAL5+ security certification
Cons:
– No iOS support
– No battery
– No bluetooth (you need to shell more money and go for Nano X model for iOS and Bluetooth)
– The supplied USB-C cable is too short for use with desktops
Overall, if you prefer peace of mind and security over ease of use and hence want to switch to a hardware wallet, you don’t need to look any further (assuming No Bluetooth and No iOS support are not a deal breaker). S plus is a good middle ground between cost and features for hardware wallets.

Overall great product, a little expensive to transfer my coins tho. Also didnt come with a usbc adapter but luckily i had one
Dominik Emmrich –
Overall good- but one design flaw
It takes a while to set up, but eventually it’s not too bad. One thing to know about the Ledger is that virtually everything is done on the device itself rather than on your computer. Therefore, be ready to click buttons a lot.
