Going into this I should preface that you should only buy the ps5 if you are going to notice the upgraded graphics or you want a game that isn’t on ps4. I really love that you can put any ps4 or ps5 disc in and it will play that version of the game, you can upgrade supported ps4 games for either free or $10. I love that you can remote play from anywhere not just the same network like ps4. A couple downsides are that I don’t like the original look of it so I had to buy new face plates, the discs feel like they go in backward, it doesn’t come with a port for a camera to have to buy an adapter, and the adaptive triggers feel clunky and weird so I turned that feature off.

My ps4 finally kicked the bucket on me, so I here I am after getting the 5. It came quick, well packaged with no damage. Runs well and since I got the disk drive I can still play my ps4 discs. Wonderful machine.
Only issue I’ve had is when trying to set up an account for my dad, I clicked the wrong age and it would not let me correct it. I would go back to start the process over and it would refuse any change to the DOB. I guess it’s to stop children from lying about their age to get rated M games without parental permission. So, according to the ps5, my dad is a six month old baby playing mortal combat.

I guess I’m supposed to be playing this hooked up to a TV, which has built in speakers, but I’m using a computer monitor, and was expecting to use either my bluetooth earbuds or speaker. No can do. You have the option of a 3.5mm audio jack in the bottom of the controller, or buying a USB transmitter. I ended up buying Playstation’s headphones, which come with a USB transmitter. I’m actually happy I did since they fit completely around my ears instead of pressing into them — by far the most comfortable I have owned. But yea, no bluetooth option is pretty lame, especially since it’s already built in for the controllers.
Now I understand, this is designed to be used with a TV, and TVs are all about 4K, 4K, 4K! But the truth is this isn’t really a solid 4K system, which I define as something that can run any game at native 4K 60hz minimum. Play on performance mode if the game supports it and you will most likely be surprised at how much more responsive the game feels. In fact most of the games aren’t even native 4k, but are being upscaled. So after my 4k monitor died, I decided to get a 1080p 120hz monitor, and there’s really no loss in visual quality. The games that support 1080p at 120hz (e.g. Uncharted 4) are amazing. It’s much more of a WOW experience than playing on 4k.
I probably wouldn’t buy the disc version again. My thought was, I’ll own the games, which I can share or sell later, and I’ll have the option of watching blueray movies. Well, honestly, am I even going to buy a movie on blueray? Probably not. More over, this thing is actually pretty loud when its spinning discs. Fortunately, it only spins game discs when you first start the game. Doing it through a movie would be a deal breaker. I cringe every time a game from amazon arrives in a thick plastic envelope that’s going to the landfill along with the plastic wrap around the game. So yea, digital is probably the way to go. Especially considering to play online multiplayer you need to pay for a playstation plus subscription, which for a few bucks more a month comes with access to a large game library.
After the recent controller firmware update, I have stick drift on the left stick. Maybe this is a coincidence, I don’t know (I have another controller I didn’t update, which is fine). This controller is less than 3 months old.

After being a PC Gamer for about a decade, having never owned my own console besides our family Xbox 360, I decided that instead of spending a thousands or more dollars to upgrade my computer and graphics card, to spend $600 or so on a digital PS5 a year of PlayStation Plus premium and an extra controller.
I’ve been playing dozens of new games, enjoying stunning graphics, and loving Sony exclusives. Couch co-op is great too. I love the sleek looks of the PS5, and actually bought some replacement camo plates to match my camo controller and pulse 3d headset.
Still love my PC but I definitely find myself spending a lot more time playing my PS5 vs my PC . (also, my new LG C2 OLED 65′ is a perfect pair for the PS5, games look stunning)
