Like other reviewers, there was a bad connection in my mic wiring, and it made a ton of staticky noise when raising and lowering, and I had to fiddle with it constantly so it would stop long enough for me to speak.
Worse: I spent ages on the HP website trying to find this product’s support page, and I never did. There are absolutely no markings on this device. No model number, no serial number, nothing. So I eventually got fed up and recycled the headset and bought a better one.
The cooling is novel, but I’m not sure it really made a difference. The sound quality is pretty good, and the surround is effective, considering they’re over the ear and there’s only so much you can do to simulate 360 sound.
Overall I regret the purchase, and recommend steering clear.

I love these headphones I’ve been using Hp Omen products (laptop and mouse) for over a year and finally the headset completed the set. Great sound quality, the FrostCap technology really does work I wear the headphones hours on end. If you press the headphones against your ears you’ll feel the cold metal and it’s great. 7.1 Surround Sound is great for movies videos and music especially games. Suspension band makes the headphones fit exactly like they’re supposed to. RGB lights are always cool. The volume slider works like a charm because it actually brings down your laptops volume giving a more balanced volume. Happy with my purchase.

Works as advertised. You get a slight cooling sensation around the ears. Which is great but also it’s con. The cooling is just not as strong as it should be, for me at least. Even cranked at max, which it’s set to by default. Greatest thing about these though might be the sound clarity of the mic and it’s comfort when wearing. It’s super comfortable and the mic is probably the best at this price point. No regrets.

We ordered this as a Christmas present for our son and it was faulty straight out of the box. When touching, lowering or raising the boom mic, a horrible screeching static came through the ear pieces, so you had to set the mic where you wanted it before putting them on. The main problem was these were fulfilled by Deal Targets in Canada, and apparently were either sold as new, but refurbished, or they were already broken. When I tried to register them on the HP website for the manufacturer’s warranty, the Serial Number on the box came up as a HP Soundbar. I had to work with HP Support to correct this (they were able to find it in the system, and the Serial Number did actually belong to this HP Omen Mindframe headset), but it was 80 days outside of it’s 365 day one year manufacturer’s warranty, so they couldn’t warranty it. This means Deal Targets sold me a 440+ day old product with no ability to receive a manufacturer’s warranty, and with the fact that we purchased it on November 2nd and didn’t open it until Christmas, it was outside of their 30 day return/refund window. I contacted my extended warranty program purchased through Amazon and they wouldn’t touch it either. I had to then work directly with Deal Targets via Amazon Message Center for an entire day going back an forth until they finally agreed to provide me a full refund. At first they wanted to charge me a 15% restocking fee because I didn’t have the owner’s manual anymore – they stated it contained the serial number for return purposes to their supplier – it doesn’t – that’s on the outside of the box. I expect they just wanted to recover some of their shipping costs to the U.S., and then back to them. Horrible experience. I wish the headset wouldn’t have been faulty, otherwise I’d have a better review.

However, I keep getting audio renderer issues, and I’m not alone. Look up the issue with this headset and do research.
I contacted HP and they can’t locate the drivers…..for their own product.
I will never purchase another HP product again. Lesson learned a second time sadly.

Good but they Rick Rolled me
I like them. Sound quality is good but when I put on 7.1 the quality is not great. It sounds like I’m in a white void being spoken to by an unknown entity from heaven. However, I know what direction that entity is and that’s kinda the point ig. The direction is great, mic is great too. I have two issues, like big ones. They took 2 weeks to get here which is just usps issue not headset issue. Second, they came broken, when I opened the box the ear cup just fell out and the plastic things that hold it in were snapped off. But with superglue that’s fine. Overall excluding the broken ear cup I like them a lot I’ll give a 4/5.

This is an old pair that I repaired with new cups and a new headband. If ever this pair breaks its nice to know I have another ready to be used.

Let’s face it, this is a gimmick headset. And it does its gimmick well! The software has been updated and there’s a lot to it now as well, such as audio profiles, EQ control, etc. But sound quality is really just a little above average. As someone who owns many many gaming headsets I can tell you I have definitely heard better. The 7.1 virtual surround sound is horrible and I can’t recommend it at all, but if you don’t get it turned on the regular surround sound is actually decent, and these things really have some volume to them! They get loud!
The cooling ear caps though, these are a treat. Yes, they actually work and yes, it’s nice. It’s not like an air conditioner blowing on your ears but it’s thermoelectric cooling so it’s more like your ears are close to a cool surface. You really notice it after a couple hours of gaming when you take it off and then put it back on after getting a drink or something. It’s nice!
Build quality is…interesting. The headband is a flimsy plastic, but it helps keep the weight down and I haven’t had any issues as far as feeling like I’m breaking them. The ear cups are comfy and very good at isolating noise. In my opinion comfort is another area where these things are nice.
But overall, if you aren’t a gamer with hot ears, these may not be for you. They are very comfy, and don’t feel as heavy as they are, but the sound quality just leaves a bit to be desired compared to something like a Plantronics RIG HD, but I will say this headset definitely gets very loud.
