I have sudden and annoying few-seconds blackouts in my neighborhood every time it rains or just because of the blue moon. (I am in San Antonio, Texas). In the past, before I had this battery, my Dell Optiplex 7020 tower would crash miserably with any power outage. Two days after I installed the battery, It had its first test during a rain storm, that of course caused a short blackout. This time my machine remained up. I have the tower, the monitor, the modem and the router connected to the battery protected outlets and they all withstood the blackout. I have some other non-vital equipment connected to the power surge protected outlets and they all remained undamaged. My Dell tower is very valuable to me because some of my software is old and does not run on Windows 10 or 11. In addition, I cannot afford buying new licenses plus the wasted time and effort reinstalling software and dealing with version incompatibilities and bugs. My current system is on Windows 7 Professional, 64-Bit. The PowerPersonal software had no issues running on Windows 7. So far I am very pleased with my proven CyberPower EC650LCD battery backup.

My computer reset everytime the air conditioner came on. This can ruin a computer. So glad to find this product. It makes a huge difference in power fluctuations and probably has saved me thousands in computer replacement costs. Recommend!

It does the job and I can’t complain about having backup power for my servers. Good product!

Great little unit
Wife works from home but company provides computer, phone, monitor, etc but provides no UPS. This is illogical thinking on the IT Department. Every computer that doesn’t run on a battery should have a UPS attached.

I usually wouldn’t say anything but late arrivals and erroneous delivery info are more frequent now than before. This product not only arrived late, it arrived 5 hours after it said it was delivered. In earth-friendly packaging, and was accurately described by the seller.

An UPS isn’t a generator, it’s designed to give you enough time to do proper shutdowns in the event of something happening. I purchased this UPS for a new computer I built, I figured if I spent that much on components I’d be a moron to not invest in a clean power solution as well.
This little UPS has performed without problems for 6 months now. I honestly forgot to install the monitoring software when I finished setting everything up, and just installed it tonight. It provides a good picture of how your UPS is doing and should be monitored regularly to ensure if there are any issues they can be corrected.
All in all 5 out of 5 for this company and the monitoring software, couldn’t be happier for the price point.

This is a pretty good UPS for the money. I use it on my TV and Internet router so I’m not connected to a computer.
My warning to those of you purchasing a UPS is check the serial number after the unit arrives. WHY??? Well Amazon shows a 2 year warranty. CyberPower claims a 3 year warranty. The CATCH. CyberPower goes by the DATE the unit was manufactured.
I just bought a new slightly larger (950W) from a local computer store. When I checked the new unit serial number that one expires in June of 2025!!! Three (3) years from today would be July 2026.

Unboxed and began to read the installation and setup using instructions provided. Maybe its me but I found the instruction booklet hard to follow, so course I turned to YouTube. Don’t waste your time on videos showing how to unbox this device. One video I found seemed to describe my confusion on how to set it up and described how to maximize its features, so I followed it. The short of is I still ran into a few problems that might want tread about.
As he mentioned in the video, left side is surge protection and the right is the battery & surge protection. (That’s what batteries also do incidentally) So what is a ECO mode?
The function of the ECO (as I understand) mode is to automatically shut down your computer safely after so many minutes of a power loss. You need to download the software from CyberPower and connect the USB wire provided from your EC850 to your computer. I had to call CyberPower tech support for this too. The iMac I’m using said the software was out of date and required a few key strokes in System Performance to get it to work. Otherwise I got everything to work during initial setup.
My Bad on this part. I mixed up a Primo water cooler power cord with a external USB and120v plug of a power station. I plugged the water dispenser (500watts capacity) into the battery outlet section (right side) and the power station into the surge strip section, left side. The ECO mode activated and everything worked fine until it didn’t. There water cooler or heater started to cycle drawing between 480 to 500 watts of power. The battery section of the the EC850 can only handle 400 watts. The warning horn sounded with a loud continuous tone in the wee hours of the morning. Holding the power button down shuts down the device and silences the horn. After a few hours or after I got up again I turn the power back on to see what happened. The Power light illuminated & ECO mode light blinked and off. I soon realized my computer was dead. I called Cyber Power customer service and described the problem as well as my mix up with the the two cords. They promptly identified the problem and also advised me I just voided their warranty by this mistake :0 They suggested I give it back to Amazon and let them deal with it.
After further trouble shooting with the agent here’s what I learned about the ECO mode (also not recommended by CyberPower customer service) I unplugged the computer from the EC850 ECO outlet and directly to the home outlet, it powered up. I checked all the outlets of the EC850 and they all showed 120v except the ECO designated outlet initially read zero. Trying to get a better connection with my ohm meter probes I heard a relay switch and the ECO plugs powered up. The green light on the ECO mode goes from a blinking green (not powered) to solid green when powered. The problem is the EC850 logic can’t identify when a electrical device is plugged in if the device is not turned on so it may or may not trip the relay to power the plug. If it doesn’t trip to the “On” position your device will never power up. My opinion is the EC850 has a faulty design so use it as a battery backup and surge protector and forget the ECO function hassle.
Good luck and hope this helped

Bought this for our aquariums and so far so good. We like knowing if power goes out many parts of our aquariums will have battery backup. Note, not all plugs are protected by battery backup but are surge protected

Get what you pay for
This has become a clunky surge protector for me. When there’s an outage for more than 5 minutes, the pack emits an infuriating tone. When the power comes back on, the tone doesn’t cease. It does work though. It kept my tv and computer on long enough to save my work and shut down. My electronics still work fine, so I guess the surge protector works. When the battery is dead, it doesn’t immediately start recharging when the power comes back on. I wish there was a way to turn the backlit screen off. I don’t regret my purchase, but I won’t be buying another one.
